Everyone has a story about how we got to where we are today—here's mine:
I didn't always live in Cobourg, I was born in Smith's Falls, Ontario where I went to school and afterwards, worked for a car dealer for three years.

I moved to Oshawa in the mid 60's and worked for another car dealer. Times were tough in those days, in fact, for a period of time, I actually lived in my car! I met Sandra in 1966 and things began to change—we now have two grown children and four grandchildren.

I left the car business to join what was then Lake Ontario Steel where I started off as a labourer. By the time I left, 25 years later, I was Superintendent of Rolling Mills Operations.

I started McCurdy Financial in 1990 as an independent Insurance Broker and have been steadily building that business, and improving my insurance expertise, ever since. I am now the exclusive representative for the Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance Plan in this area and I deal with a large number of Canada's best insurance providers. because I am an Independent Broker, I can choose the company that will provide my client the best coverage at the most favourable rate.

Over the years, I have been involved with my community in a number of areas:
• I served on the Town of Cobourg Council for 12 years, six as councilor, three as Reeve, and three as Deputy Mayor.
• I am a Past Board Chair of the Cobourg Police Services.
•I am a past President of the Cobourg Lion's Club and was involved in organizing the Arts Festival.
•I was Chairman of the Canada Day Parade for two years.
• I am a Past Board Member of: the Downtown Business Association, the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce, Cobourg Day Care, Cobourg Planning Advisory Board and the Cobourg Parks and Recreation Board.
